Way back in early April we went to the 4th Street Fair here in Tucson and met Kathy of Unique Designs by Kathy.
She raises her own sheep, llamas, alpacas, and several types of goats. She used to actually shear them herself but now she farms out that part of it. She then cleans the wool, cards it, spins it and makes interesting combinations of different wools.
Some she felts for wall art, for purses, for hats, etc. She also makes unique skeins of yarn from the rest of the wool.
Kathy gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to many of the animals - some more friendly then others but we walked with all of them in their pens.
Had a great visit and hope to return next year when she said she would teach me to spin wool in 10 minutes. Can you believe it? Anybody want to go with me?
