Hiking the Ventana Canyon Trail

Friday, the 30th of January, Michael and Larry went hiking on the Ventana Canyon Trail.

I was a bit under the weather and did not join but I wish I had been a bird listening in to the stimulating conversation! Or not?

A Sue Veseth Original

Last May Michael and I visited the farm of Unique Designs by Kathy here in Tucson and petted the sheep, goats, llamas and more. Kathy has the animals sheared and creates interesting and novel yarns from the bulk wool into skeins of yarn that she sells in her shop at the farm.

My friend, Sue, said that I could buy yarn for a scarf if I found some I liked.

It wasn't hard to find some! We also bought some for Sue to try.

In the last package of mail that Sue sent was the finished scarf! The solid color Sue added as filler as I had not bought enough for a full length scarf. It turned out beautifully! And it sure is warm.

Our friend, Lindsay Gow, visited for a night

Lindsay called and said he was passing through our way and wondered if we were in Tucson and if he was welcome to spend Friday night.

OF COURSE!

We met Lindsay and two friends at Firebirds for dinner then went on to our home for a visit and a bagpipe concert which continued the next morning.

A great visit but a bit short!

More news

An ironing board, 2 drying racks (Sue and the 2 Michaels kept after me until I bought them!), Sewing Machine, Slack presser and valet, 2 Air purifiers, an Espresso Maker and the two of us having lunch on the patio at the front of our home.

What more could you ask for!

Kartchner Caverns

Since you weren't allowed to take photos in the caverns this is a text only entry.

Friday, January 2nd, found the four of us visiting the Singing Winds book store in the middle of nowhere around Benson before having lunch in a local Mexican restaurant.

Then on to the caves where we took the The Big Room tour and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Michael and I have been there before but we hadn't toured this cave and it was beautiful.

I can't imagine finding the cave the first time and exploring it like the discoverers did!

Happy Trails to You!

The four of us rented horses from the stable near Colossal Caves and took a guided two hour tour through the desert. Michael Morrell's horse-Mike; Michael Veseth's horse-Ted; Sue's horse-SeeBee; and my horse Comet. A great ride!

Also stopped to pose with the statue at the caves.

New Year's Eve we spent with our cousins, George and Marj Ansell, and our friends, Chuck and Sarah Block. Fortunately or unfortunately we did not take pictures.

More of Monday's Activities

Monday's Activities

Monday's activities included a visit to Unique Designs by Kathy where Kathy raises the sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas for their wool.

She hires a shearer then cleans, combs and spins some very interesting and colorful yarns from the different wools.

Kathy gave us a tour of the animals and we hand fed the llamas at the end of the tour.

Then the best part we went shopping in her shop. Sue very kindly offered to knit another scarf when she had time if I found some yarn I liked - that was not difficult.
It was difficult, however, to narrow it down to one length of yarn.

Then on to Tohona Chul Park where we had lunch sitting outside and discovered a new citrus tree close by - a limequat tree.

The walk around the gardens was spectacular and enjoyed by all.

Sunday's Dinner - A 16 lb. Standing Rib Roast

Friday we shopped at SteinMart where we each found something
on sale, then Sam's Club and Total Wine where Michael found
a Malbec for our Sunday dinner.

Saturday, we all went to Copenhagen Furniture for their sale
which turned out to be disappointing and then on to the Public
Market which was also disappointing as it was very cold and
to close to the holidays so very few vendors and very few
shoppers but I will check out the market again.

On Sunday, the 28th of December, Michael made a standing
rib roast on the bbq.

As you can see by the pictures it was not uneventful but it sure
tasted good when he finished with it. We still have to clean
up the bbq from that adventure but we didn't catch anything
on fire.

More of our Second Day - December 26th

The weather here was unusually cold Christmas Day and a couple of days after.

However, the low clouds on the Catalina Mountains were beautiful.

Michael ran out to take pictures also.

The Second Day of The Veseth's Visit

Beverly and Cliff (sister and brother in law)and my niece, Trena Moddrell drove down from Avondale to deliver our two new recliners and ottomans.

Cliff, as usual, went right to work assembling them and did a wonderful job. Trena and Beverly assisted and we stayed out of the way as they obviously had a system going.

Michael did relax in the first chair when it was assembled though.

It is very exciting to have a bit more furniture!

Michael and Sue would not sit in the new chairs at first - they said we looked sooo comfortable.

Dinner the first night with the Veseths

Michael made his famous Pepper Steak for our guests on their arrival!
